He programmed his first software for the options market in the early 1980s in his familiar attic room. Not long after, he established himself with his company IRIS Investment Support Systems on the Rokin in Amsterdam. Herbert soon became a well-known name on the Amsterdam options exchange. Always looking for better, smarter, faster and more beautiful solutions for market makers, option traders and institutions. After the successful sale of the company to GL Trade (later Sungard), Herbert founded the current company Finodex.

Herbert (married, 3 children studying), is an avid runner, swimmer and cyclist. He has a number of 1/8-triathlons to his name, is training for the OD and cautiously dreams of a 'half' triathlon.
